Lomano Tresor Lua-Lua has been named in DR Congo`s preliminary squad for the African Nations Cup.
The Newcastle United striker is yet uncapped for the Simbas, and has spent all his career in England. Newcastle bought him in 2000 for £2.25m.
The 20-year-old was born in Kinshasa but moved to England in 1989.
Lua-Lua says he has learnt much from playing alongside England greats Alan Shearer and Keiron Dyer, but is yet to start a game for Newcastle this season.
Lua-Lua is one of 15 European-based players named in coach Louis Watunda`s provisional squad. However
that number could well rise. Congolese officials say the list is not final.
Other than Lua-Lua, European-based players named include Monaco`s Nonda Shabani and captain Jason Mayele, who plays for Chievo Verona in Italy`s Serie A.
In total five of the strikers named are Europe-based.
Also included are KV Mechelen`s Jean-Paul Lisasi Boeka and Turkish-based midfielder Marcel Mbayo.
There are three Angola-based players too, including Pathy Nsele Esengo and Nkole Tokala who competed for InterClube of Luanda in last year`s African Cup Winners` Cup final.
