Former Cameroon Coach Schaefer Fired In Dubai (20.02.2007)
Former Cameroon coach Winfried Schaefer on Monday confirmed that he has been fired as coach of Al Ahli Dubai after the club had lost five games in a row.
The 53-year-old told Deutsche Presse-Agentur dpa that he was sorry to leave the club he joined two years ago. "I enjoyed my time in Dubai. It is an efficiently run club."
He said that he would return to his
family near Stuttgart before considering his future. "I would be interested in coaching in Germany, but I can also see myself staying in the Middle East."
Schaefer said the club, which he had last year taken to the championship, had lost five games in a row because they had to release six player for the national team that competed in the Gulf Cup.
