Cameroon forward Mohamadou Idrissou will be left behind when Hanover 96 fly out for their Spanish training camp this week.
The striker will remain at home as punishment for his late return from holiday.
Idrissou reported to the Bundesliga club on Monday, a week late, blaming flight problems for the delay.
He has also been handed a "severe" fine and a
warning, Hanover`s website reported.
"Unfortunately, we must hurt ourselves in this case," Hanover director of football Ilja Kaenzig said.
"The player has forced us to."
The squad fly to Spain on Wednesday for a training camp in Jerez.
They resume their Bundesliga programme with a home game against Bayer Leverkusen on 23 January.
