Tottenham Hotspur are ready to offer Samuel Eto`o a yearly salary of €7million as they seek to secure the signature of the Barcelona striker.
Spurs appear to be leading the chase for the twenty-seven year old, with chairman Daniel Levy expected in Barcelona tomorrow to present an official offer to Barça president Joan Laporta.
The North London club are willing to pay €30million in order to sign Eto`o from the Catalan giants and have set aside another €7million a year - roughly €135,000 a week - to account for the Cameroon striker`s salary.
Such a figure is significantly more than he is assumed to be on at the Camp Nou and Levy is hopeful that the bumper salary
combined with the prospect of proving himself in England will prove tempting enough for Eto`o to move to White Hart Lane.
Barcelona have requested €40million in order to part company with Eto`o and although Spurs` bid doesn`t reach that figure, it is though to be up to €10million more than either AC Milan or Inter are willing to offer, thus putting the English club in the driving seat.
Milan coach Carlo Ancelotti is the spearhead behind his club`s interest in Eto`o, but with former club president Silvio Berlusconi so endeared with the prospect of bringing Ronaldinho to the San Siro, it is highly unlikely they will have enough money left over to also sign Eto`o.
