Eto`o clarifies quit threat (23.04.2008)

The Cameroon international was quoted on Monday as being unhappy at Barca`s recent barren trophy spell, and indicated that if the trend continued he would be forced to look for a move away from Camp Nou.
However, while still admitting that he is unhappy with the Catalan club`s current lean period, he denies that he has any intention of walking away from the club any time soon.
Comfortable
"I am surprised by all this reaction. I want to make it clear that I never threatened to leave Barcelona," he told radio station Cadena SER.
"What I said came at an event with children where I answered questions relaxed and, above all, speaking truthfully.
"This season I have the opportunity to win the Champions League, but if I do not win it and then the coming year I don`t win anything either, it will be three years without obtaining anything. A club such as Barca cannot allow that.
"What I said was that I would not feel comfortable playing in a team that signed me to score goals and to win, and I don`t manage it. I would not be able to look the fans in the face."

Honest
Eto`o then insisted that he does not wish to retract his comments, and claims that he was just being open about his feelings.
"I have always been honest and always will be," he said.
"Next year I will be at Barcelona. I hope to start next season at my best level because during the last two seasons injuries have affected me.
"I hope to be able to help the team improve and that, all being well, we can win many things."
Options
Probed as to where he may end up if he did decide to leave Barcelona, Eto`o admitted that his only options would be a return to his former club Real Mallora or a move abroad.
"When I said that I had reached the top, I wanted to say that after Barca I would not want to play in Spain. I would only go to Mallorca," he added.
"If I leave Barcelona I will not play for any other Spanish team apart from Mallorca.
"For example, I will never play with Real Madrid."
