Sanda Oumarou bags MTN Man-of-the-match award (21.01.2004)

Coton Sport’s Sanda Oumarou has been named winner of the first edition of the MTN man-of-the-match award.
MTN centre region representative Imossio Begoume and Fecafoot assistant secretary General Ndoki Mukete presented the award to him on Wednesday during a brief ceremony at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel. The award comprised a million FCFA and a trophy.
Oumarou was voted eleven to one by a jury for his outstanding performance during the Cameroon cup final last month.
His spectacular
passes from the wing caused both goals for Coton Sport who beat Sable Batie 2-1.
MTN Cameroon took over sponsorship of the man-of-the-match award in replacement of Guinness Cameroun that had been sponsor for 23 years.
According to Guinness they backed out of the award in order to concentrated on community activities.
Begoume told The Herald that MTN accepted to sponsor the award as part of its determination to support sustainable development across Africa.
“We find football an activity that unites most Cameroonians”, he said.
