Our CAN starts on Saturday, says Song (26.01.2008)

Cameroon Captain Rigobert Song said his teammates totally forgot their humiliating 4-2 defeat against Egypt last Tuesday and that Saturday`s clash against Zambia will be the real start of their Nations Cup campaign.

"We have a good team but there are also distressing moments in football which only sends the team back to the drawing board," Song was quoted saying on the CAF website.

"It is true that we are not at our best form for example during the first segment of our match with Egypt we were completely lost, but upon resumption we proved to the fans what we are capable of doing."

"We could have done better in the game but for the fact that our morals had been dampened by the three goals. Anyway we still have two matches

to go and I believe we are going to make it," said the 32-year old captain.

Song also believes his side perform well under pressure.

He cited the 1984 tournament as an example when the Indomitable Lions lost their opener but managed to win the title.

"Cameroon is Cameroon. It is no doubt that we are going to make it to the second round. In reality, our CAN 2008 begins on Saturday against Zambia,

"We are in the process of rebuilding a new team. The present squad is made up of about 60-70% new blood. I can assure you that all will be fine. We know that we are in difficulties at the moment, but we have the potentials to come back to the top."
