The Under 20 Lions will clash with Malawi on October 1.
Some 30 players of the under-20 national football team have been called to camp in Akono to prepare for the match against Malawi on Sunday October 1, at the Ahmadou Ahidjo stadium. The first leg match counts for the second round qualifications for the 15th edition of the junior African cup of nations to take place in Congo 2007. Cameroon qualified for the second round after beating Niger 1-0 in Yaounde and bowed to them in Niamey 1-2 but qualified because of the away goal.
The short listed players include four professionals; Ma’a Boumsong Daniel
(Treviso, Italie), Morfaw Alexandre (FC Nantes), Goda Jules (Bastia, France) and Mbami Serge (Sedan, France) .Three new players have also made their entry into junior national team. The other are old timers who took part in the match against Niger such team captain Jackson Eyinga Nna of Coton Sport Garoua, central defender Nkoulou Ndoubena Nicolas of Kadji Sports Academy, Moukandjo Bile Benjamin (Kadji Sports Academy) and Ndjana Onana Anselme of Impots football club-Yaounde. Out of the 30 players, 18 will be selected for the match on Sunday. Though Malawi seems to be an easy side for the Lions on paper, Malawi prove a hard nut to crack for the Lions.
