     Schaefer alters Cameroon plans (22.09.2004)

Cameroon manager Winfried Schaefer has cancelled plans for a home training camp ahead of their next World Cup qualifier in Sudan.

It was planned that the team of only foreign-based players will camp in the northern town of Garoua.

Garoua was picked due to its climatic similarity with Khartoum, where the qualifier will be played on 9 October.

No reason was given for the change of plan.

The team will now assemble in Paris for two days before moving directly to Khartoum on 5 October.

Meanwhile, Mohamadou Idrissou has been named in the 20-man squad.

The Germany-based player missed the two previous qualifiers because of a dispute over his age and a subsequent injury.

Cameroon, in third place in Group Three, must beat Sudan to remain in contention for a

    World Cup place.
