Metz seek to broker Nations Cup deal for Cameroon `keeper (24.12.2001)

Cameroon international goalkeeper Jacques Songo`o looks set to miss the Indomitable Lions` training camp for next month`s African Nations Cup after objections from his French club Metz.
Metz will seek to negotiate a deal with the Cameroon Football Federation which will see the talented keeper link up with the national team on or after January 12 instead of January 4 as planned.
The delay will allow
Songo`o to feature in Metz` First Division clash with league-leaders Lens on January 5, and possibly the game against Sedan a week later.
"Cameroon has got together a squad for a training camp on January 4," Songo`o explained. "I believe the directors at Metz will try and negotiate so that I don`t have to leave until January 12," he added.
The African Nations Cup takes place in Mali from January 19 to February 10.
