Chelsea midfielder Claude Makelele says he has no regrets about putting club before country.
The 32-year-old decided to quit playing for France in September and focus on helping the Blues win their first top-flight title for 50 years.
He said: "I made that decision for my own good and for the good of Chelsea.
"I`m still in touch with a lot of the French national team players but I am happy now to be able to commit myself
100%to Chelsea."
The Frenchman stepped aside at international level to give younger players the chance to develop their experience.
Now, with Chelsea just two games away from a Premiership title and three away from a Champions League final, he feels his decision was totally justified.
"Turning my back on France wasn`t an easy choice but it was an important one for me and my family," the Frenchman added.
