DR Congo striker Shabani Nonda began the new French season on a bright note, scoring both goals in Monaco´s win over Bordeaux on Saturday.
Nonda, the first division´s top scorer with 26 goals last season, put his club ahead in the 32nd minute, curling in a free kick from 25 metres.
Captaining the side in the absence of suspended Ludovic Giuly, Nonda got the second in the 57th minute.
He converted a penalty kick after Bordeaux´s Mauricio Pochinetto had brought
down Jaroslav Plasil in the six yard box.
Meanwhile, Ivory Coast striker Ibrahim Bakayoko scored Marseille´s winning goal in their 1-0 triumph over Guincamp.
Bakayoko got the winner in injury time, latching onto a pass and hitting a fierce shot, which went in off the goalkeeper´s inside post.
Moroccan Jawad Zairi hit a last-minute winner for Sochaux in their 2-1 win over Nantes, while Cameroon striker Jean Makoun scored the lone goal in Lille´s 1-0 defeat of Lyon.
