Former Nigeria international defender Taribo West is set to sign for Yugoslavian club Partizan Belgrade, according to the club`s managing director Nenad Bjekovic.
Bjekovic said West was to arrive in Belgrade next week to sign a contract with Partizan and join the team for their mid-season trip to Turkey.
"I think there`s a very good chance of Taribo West signing for us," Bjekovic told B92 radio in Yugoslavia.
"All that needs to be worked out are a few minor details concerning the duration of
his contract."
Last month, Partizan signed former Germany captain Lothar Matthaus as coach in a bid to retain their league title and become the first Yugoslav club to qualify for the European Champions league.
West has not played club football since being fired by Kaizerslautern midway through last season, although he did feature at the World Cup in Japan and Korea.
He has played top level club football in Italy`s Serie A, the German Bundesliga and England`s Premiership with Derby County.
