Nigeria`s soccer chief fired over financial malpractice (29.08.2001)

Tijjani Yusuf has been fired from the post of the secretary general of the Nigeria Football Association (NFA) over reported financial malpractices, officials told reporters Tuesday.
"Yusuf was handed his redeployment letter from the NFA yesterday," sports ministry top official Depo Oyelade told reporters. "His replacement will be announced soon."
/>The position of NFA secretary general is held by a senior civil servant and officials told reporters that Yusuf was expected to be officially suspended from the civil service in coming days.
His dismissal had been long expected as part of a major reorganisation of the NFA following findings of financial malpractices and fraud.
