Newly-promoted Bundesliga side VfL Bochum have clinched the signing of Cameroon defender Raymond Kalla.
"As he will take part in the World Cup he has attracted interest from a lot of teams so transfer talks were long and very complicated, which made us even more delighted by the fact that he finally agreed to join us," Bochum president Werner Altegoer said.
Kalla was available on a free transfer after seeing out his contract at Spanish second division side Extremadura and
Bochumrushed through his signing fearing that a strong showing in Far East would put him out of their price range.
The 27-year-old is a vital part of Cameroon coach Winfried Schafer`s back line and had been linked with a move to Fenerbahce as well as several clubs in England before agreeing terms on three-year deal, with the option of two additional years, with Bochum.
Kalla will be taking part in his third World Cup and will be up against Germany, Ireland and Saudi Arabia in Group E.
