REAL MALLORCA forward Samuel Eto`o has been hospitalised with a throat infection, leaving the club bereft of last season`s top strikers.
Having just sold Albert Luque to Deportivo La Coruna, Mallorca are looking somewhat lightweight upfront and the situation is certainly not helped with Eto`o being admitted to hospital suffering from a fever and vomiting.
The Cameroon striker has been put on a 24-hour fast in an attempt to flush the infection out with liquids.

It has been a difficult couple of months for Eto`o, who failed to earn himself a move to The Premiership in the summer. In August he suffered an ankle injury from which he is still recovering.
It is expected that Eto`o will be out for at least four games and given his 23 goals over the past two seasons, his loss is a major blow to coach Gregorio Manzano.
Eto`o joined Mallorca from Real Madrid in 2001 and is contracted to the Balearic side until 2007.
