The French daily newspaper Le Parisien says it has evidence to show that Nigeria`s Augustine Okocha is the highest-paid player at Paris St. Germain.
It has published documents which it says show the attacking midfielder earns 1.1 million francs a month.
That is the equivalent of US$148,200.
It means Okocha is paid more than the mercurial French striker Nicolas Anelka, who is said to earn 1 million francs a month.
Le Parisien also says it has
access to details of the wages of players at Olympique Marseille.
Again it is an African player who tops the list of high earners.
The paper says the monthly income of Ivorian striker Ibrahim Bakayoko is 800,000 francs.
That is nearly $110,000.
The two teams meet on Thursday in a first division league match.
But PSG players boycotted a press conference ahead of the game in protest at the publication of the figures.
