ROME (AP) - Cameroon defender Pierre Wome will play next season for Serie A club and Italian Cup winner Inter Milan, Inter said Thursday.
Wome, 26, signed a one-year deal with Inter following the end of his contract with his club Brescia, which was relegated this season from Italy`s top division.
"Inter is a great club that has everything it needs to win a lot," Wome said in a statement. "I am naturally
very proud and happy about this moment and I hope I will be able to contribute to a really great victory."
A longtime member of Cameroon`s national team, Wome was a key part of the team that won the gold in soccer at Sydney`s 2000 Olympics, scoring the winning goal in a penalty shootout with Spain.
Before joining Brescia in 2004, Wome played for Spanish top division club Espanyol and for English Premier League team Fulham.
