The ongoing 25th edition of the African Cup of Nations has brought out new qualities in some players despite their quest for victory. During the match between the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon and the Hawks of Togo yesterday, Barcelona striker, Samuel Eto’o Fils stood out as one of the most peace-loving players. Whenever there was a quarrel between his team mates and players of the opposite camp, he would run fast to the scene to make peace without taking sides. He was always the first person to calm both sides and prevent tempers from flaring. He may be a good candidate for the most disciplined player in the tournament and a good example for others to emulate. The Barcelona forward remains the pivot of the Lions’ attack and the man to watch in the
tournament. Samuel Eto’o is presently the highest scorer in the tournament with four goals. While searching for goals he was always ready to make peace. His peaceful and calm nature can be valuable assets for Cameroon in this tournament. From every indication, Samuel Eto’o is out to continue what he started during Cameroon’s first outing at the Nation’s Cup last Saturday. He notched a hat-trick in his team’s opening game, something he hardly did with the Lions in the past. Eto’o has been in top form with his Spanish club FC Barcelona. He has scored 15 goals for his club this season. He finished third in 2005 FIFA player of the year award. He has also been short listed for the African footballer of the year award for 2005.
