Saudi Arabian captain Sami al-Jaber is in a race against time to be fit for Thursday`s Group E clash with Cameroon after picking up a right ankle injury it was revealed here Monday.
The 29-year-old striker, who played in both the 1994 and 1998 finals scoring a penalty in each one, has been unable to train since picking up the injury in
Saturday`s8-0 humbling by Germany.
"The doctors think he will be alright for Thursday but he will undergo full medical treatment to make sure he is 100 percent," Al-Jaber, who became the first Saudi player to play in England when he had a brief and unhappy spell at Wolves in 2001, is due to retire from international football when the Saudis campaign ends here.
