Ghanaian stampede aftermath: six police guilty (27.11.2001)

One hundred twenty six fans died during a stampede at the end of a football match in Accra (Ghana) on May 9. Six months later 6 members of the Ghanaian police were found guilty of non-premeditated murder, French daily L`Equipe
reported.
In addition, some members of the National Sports Committee will be sacked by the government for "grievous negligence." A monument dedicated to the victims of the tragedy will be erected at the stadium. Every year a memory match will be staged.
