Cameroon 2-0 Togo (25.01.2006)
Cameroon reached the quarter-finals of the African Cup of Nations with a 2-0 win over World Cup finalists Togo, who now cannot qualify from Group B.
Samuel Eto`o gave the Indomitable Lions the lead on 68 minutes with a stunning 20-yard shot into the top corner.
Eto`o turned provider 17 minutes later for Albert Ze Meyong, who with his back to goal flicked the ball into the net.
Cameroon also hit the woodwork twice while Emmanuel `Sheyi` Adebayor went close for Togo.
The Indomitable Lions deserved their victory but found Togo more obstinate opponents than Angola were in Cameroon`s opening game.
Eto`o`s fourth goal of the tournament came as Rudolph Douala, so often the supplier of the ammunition for the Barcelona striker, crossed into the box.
Daniel Ngom Kone wanted too long on the ball and as it broke loose it fell to Eto`o just outside the box, and he rifled it into the roof of the net.
Signs of a breakthrough had been coming soon after half time when Geremi hit the bar with a free-kick.
Minutes later Togo`s Adebayor broke into the box at the other end and tumbled as he tried to go around Cameroon keeper Hamidou Souleymanou, who saved well with his feet.
Togo tried and wanted something from this game, but found they were unable to deal with their superior opponents.

Eto`o`s first good chance came at the end of the first half as his shot hit the angle of bar after Rudolph Douala`s shot at the end of a weaving run had been parried buy Koassi Agassa in the Togo goal.
Togo`s only first-half chance of note came when an Adebayor pass was controlled nicely by Yao Aziawonou, who then volleyed cleanly, perhaps too cleanly, as Hamidou was able to save.
Cameroon owed the second goal to Eto`o too. With five minutes to go he changed pace and broke into the box. His cut-back was classily tucked home by substitute Ze Meyong - his first goal for his country.
But it was Eto`o who rightly milked the applause at the end. His four goals in Egypt equal his personal best at a finals, when he struck four at the competition in 2000 as Cameroon went on to win.
There was also recognition for Cameroon captain Rigobert Song who picked up an award at half-time from the president of the Confederation of African Football, Issa Hayatou, for playing in his record 25th game at the Nations Cup.
