Chelsea s´impose in extremis à Prague
PRAGUE - L´équipe anglaise de Chelsea a battu la formation tchèque du Sparta Prague 1 à 0, grâce à un but marqué à la 85e minute par le Français William Gallas, mardi soir au Stade de Letna à Prague.
En première période, le Sparta tentait de mettre les Anglais sous pression, mais se heurtait systématiquement à une défense parfaitement organisée autour de Marcel Desailly.
Un coup franc de Karel Poborsky à la 9e minute, suivi d´une tête de Martin Petras, ainsi qu´une tentative à la 17e minute de Vladimir Labant sont notamment restés sans résultat.
Après la pause, Chelsea prenait le jeu à son compte, avec plusieurs belles occasions de l´Argentin Hernan Crespo. A la 52e minute, Crespo se trouvait notamment seul devant le gardien praguois Jaromir Blazek qui repoussait son tir.
Un quart d´heure après, il surprenait cette fois Blazek par un joli lob qui manquait cependant le cadre.
Entretemps, le pilier de la défense du Sparta, Petr Johana, avait failli marquer contre son camp à la 59e minute en détournant un tir anglais.
L´entraîneur du Sparta, Jiri Kotrba, tentait de faire tourner son effectif, mais Chelsea contrôlait le jeu et se montrait nettement plus efficace.
Cinq minutes avant le coup de sifflet final, William Gallas profitait d´une erreur de la défense praguoise pour marquer des dix mètres.
