GEREMI STAYING AT THE BRIDGE
Geremi has pledged his future to Chelsea, ruling out a return to Middlesbrough.
The former Real Madrid midfielder returned to West London earlier this week after a stint of international duty with Cameroon.
It has been suggested that Geremi would not be involved under new Blues coach Jose Mourinho - but he now looks set to get his chance.
Chelsea have confirmed that Geremi was not due to be part of Mourinho`s plans, but after talks with the Portuguese boss and chief executive Peter Kenyon - he will now be given an opportunity to fight for a first team place at Stamford Bridge.
"There was a lot of speculation about Geremi going to Middlesbrough and other clubs," his agent Barry Silkman told skysports.com.
"But he will be staying at Chelsea for the foreseeable future and he hopes to play under Jose Mourinho."
The news will be of particular interest to Boro - who had been looking at Geremi as someone who could have filled one of their midfield berths.
The Teessiders have confirmed that they are looking to sign two players - both likely to be midfielders - before the start of the new campaign, with Boudewijn Zenden almost certain to be one of them.
Boro are hoping to seal Zenden`s signature in the next week and they will then turn their attention to their other possible target.
With Geremi off their list of potential targets and Owen Hargreaves admitting he will likely to remain at Bayern Munich, Boro`s options are disappearing.
Boro made a move for Ray Parlour earlier this summer - a story exclusively revealed on skysports.com - and he would seemingly be the most likely option, ahead of the likes of Nicky Butt and Gary Speed.
